Artist- Lorraine Charlie
Lorraine Charlie was originally from Alert BAy, B.C. She is “Namgis from the [Kwakwaka’wakw] Nation.Her maternal great-grandfather was the late Mungo Martin. ( ) Lorraine is a self taught artist. Her abilities to draw and paint are talents she was gifted with.She uses the traditional colours and forms of the [Kwakaeaka’wakw] styles of art. She preferred to use a more naturalistic for for her subjects.
The drum is hexagonal in shape and measures 10” on the diagonal and 8-1/2” across.
The painting os that of a killer whale. Done in Black, red and blue.
It is signed with the artists initials in the lower right hand corner of the drum. Also has the original paper tag with her name.
The face of the drum is in good condition. However, on the sides there are a few cracks starting to show. Perhaps someone who knows how, could repair it. Otherwise, it still makes a nice hanging for the wall.
The price reflects the condition.
