Sangani Osuitok was raised in a family of ape Dorse artists. His father, Ipeepee and his brother Tunisia are wel known carvers and was his mother, Nipisha Osuitok.
It depicts a hunter holding a spear (spear is carved from bone) He is posed with spear upheld awaiting the seals emergence from beneath the ice.
Signed on the bottom.
Nice, clean lines. Good detail on the folds of his parka and mukluks. Concentration showing on his face...
This sculpture stands 10-1/2” high x 4” long x 3-1/2” wide.
It is heavy, weighing just over 6 pounds.
Thiis item is in excellent condition. It comes from a shop that has closed due to retirement.
