This carviing is of an Inukshuk.  There are scrimshaw pictures of an owl, a northern landscape, an igloo, a narwhal, a walrus, a seal a child catching snowflakes and what appears to a woman holding a feather high in the air.

Inukshuks are structures of stones stacked usually in the form of a human, traditionally used by the Eskimo/Inuit people as a landmark or as a commemorative sign.  It is omni-present in the Inuit tradition.

This sculpture stands 10-1/4” high and is approximately 9” wide and 2-1/2” deep across the base.

This item is in excellent condition.  It comes from a shop that has closed due to retirement.

It is heavy, weighing in at 5 pounds 14 ounces.
