Horsehair Wedding Vase
Real horsehair and feathers are used in this ancient process to produce each unique piece.
It is cream in colour with strands of black horsehair throughout in a random pattern.
It stands 10” high from the base to the top of the looped handle and is approximately 7” in diameter. It is silky smooth to the touch.
This item was produced by the Native American Artisans of Mesa Verde Pottery.
The wedding vase is a vessel used in traditional Puebla wedding ceremonies. One spout of the vase represents thre husband and the other the wife. The looped handle represents the unity achieved in marriage, In the traditional ceremony the bride drinks from one side, the husband from the other to consummate the marriage.
This item is excellent condition. It was acquired from a private collector 15-20 years ago.
