Jade green, with Cherry Blossoms and Blue Bird
They measure 2-3/4” at the rim and 2” in diameter at the neck. At their widest point they measure 5-1/4”in diameter. They are approximately 7” high.
Cloisonne vases decorated in Jade Green with Cherry Blossoms and a little Blue Bird.
These vases have a beautiful Jade Green base colour . On the front of the vases there is a light brown branch with dark brown highlights . It is bursting with cherry blossoms in pink and white with green and gold centres. There is a little Blue Bird flying towards the branch.
On the back there is a dark blue twig of cherry blossoms, blue and white wnd pink.
The vases have an all over “swirling cloud”design made from brass wire. Each wire is twisted and set onto the vase. Then each of these little compartments is filled with the Jade Enamel. (This is ground up, coloured glass, first in powder form, then made into a paste). The branches, twigs, and blossom are all outlined with brass wire and painstakingly filled in with enamel. This is a very time consuming process.
The pieces fired several times at a temperature of about 1350F-1500F for short bursts, 2 minutes or so to melt the glass.
Chinese Cloisonné is amoungst the best known Cloisonné in the world.
One of these vases is in excellent condition. The other has a a small dent about the size of a quarter and another about the size of a pea, near the bottom, at the back of the piece. Please refer to the last photo.
